I was raised by a self-employed, single mom who taught me a lot about financial responsibility, hard work, and determination. Witnessing my mother's dedication as she poured her sweat and tears into a new business to support her two daughters after facing life's challenges left a profound impact on me. Through her story, I gained a firsthand understanding of entrepreneurship at a young age.
Following my graduation from Huntington University in 2012, I married my high school sweetheart, Joseph Herber, and we settled back in Fremont, Indiana where we both graduated high school. My husband began managing his family's campground while I embarked on my own professional journey at a Fort Wayne firm. Surrounded by experienced professionals who guided and supported me, I earned my CPA license. In 2016, another opportunity arose at a different accounting firm, allowing me to return to my hometown area. This new environment provided the flexibility I needed as we started a family, and it nurtured my career in monumental ways.
As I continued my career, my passion for small businesses grew deep roots in Steuben County. Walking alongside the locals, and seeing the positive impact my skills were having within our tight-knit community became a source of fulfillment.
Over the last few years, the idea of venturing out independently has been gradually taking shape within me, nurturing the existing passions in my heart: my love for numbers and the desire to assist others in our community. In June 2024, after much prayer and contemplation, I ultimately made the life-changing choice to open my own firm: Honest Tax & Accounting. This venture stems from a desire to further enhance the client experience through a genuine and transparent methodology; the goal is to cultivate an environment where integrity and excellence align seamlessly to foster client trust and satisfaction.
